Ready Made or Customised? Which Production Route Fits Your Brand?

When planning a knitwear collection, one of the most important decisions is choosing between ready made garments and customised production. Both routes can work beautifully depending on your brand’s stage, timeline, and design needs.

At CH Cashmere, we support both approaches, and this guide aims to help you understand which path may suit you best.

Ready Made Knitwear: No MOQ, Fast, and Flexible

Our ready made garments are fully produced, stocked, and available for wholesale with no minimum order quantity. You can browse our full catalogue directly on our website.

✔ Advantages

  • No MOQ: ideal for small batches, testing new markets, or topping up seasonal capsules

  • Fast lead time: ready made orders are typically dispatched within around 1 week

  • Lower upfront cost: no sampling fees or development charges

  • Immediate quality review: you can see and feel the finished garment straight away

  • Easy brand adaptation: we can sew your brand labels onto our ready‑made styles, or make minor measurement adjustments to align the fit with your brand

✘ Considerations

  • Design limitations: ready made styles cannot be fully redesigned

  • Fixed yarn and colour options: only the listed specifications are available

  • Stock based availability: quantities depend on current inventory

  • Higher unit price: ready made garments are generally priced higher per piece compared with the unit cost of bulk customised production, as they are pre‑produced and stocked.

Best suited for: emerging brands, boutiques, early stage designers, or anyone needing quick turnaround without committing to large quantities.

Customised Production: Full Creative Control

For brands with a clear design direction, customised production offers complete flexibility.

Our MOQ is 50pcs/colour across 3–4 sizes, depending on the design.

✔ Advantages

  • Exclusive designs: full control over silhouette, measurements, trims, and finishing

  • Choice of yarn: including tencel, cotton, cashmere, merino wool and more

  • Brand identity: perfect for building a cohesive seasonal collection

  • Consistent bulk production: once approved, your design is produced exactly to spec

✘ Considerations

  • MOQ required: 50pcs/colour across 3–4 sizes (may vary by style)

  • Longer lead time: sampling takes 2 weeks to 1.5 months, bulk production 1–1.5 months

  • Sampling fees: each sample is charged individually

  • Multiple revisions: most brands require 2–3 rounds of sampling to finalise measurements

Best suited for: established brands, designers with defined collections, or labels preparing for wholesale distribution.

What About OEM / ODM?

Many brands ask whether our services fall under OEM or ODM.

In practice:

  • When you purchase our ready made garments and simply add your brand label → this is ODM (our design, your brand).

  • When you request measurement adjustments or develop a new design from scratch → this is OEM (your design, produced by us).

We keep the terminology simple for customers, but both options are available depending on your needs.

How to Decide?

A simple way to choose:

  • Select ready made if you want speed, flexibility, and no MOQ.

  • Select customised if you want full design control and consistent bulk production.

Many brands begin with ready made pieces to test the market, then move into customised production once they understand their customer base.
